The Highlights of the Easter Festival 2024
The Salzburg Easter Festival 2024 will take you to Italy. Chief conductor Sir Antonio Pappano and the Rome-based Orchestra dell’ Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia present a new production of Amilcare Ponchielli’s rarely performed opera “La Gioconda”, with Anna Netrebko and Jonas Kaufmann singing the leading roles.
The programme also includes orchestral concerts that take a look at Italy from the point of view of Italian and non-Italian composers, the “Messa da Requiem” by Giuseppe Verdi and two song recitals.
The dance and electro division, which was newly founded in 2023, will also be continued. The internationally sought-after DJ Max Cooper will let the sounds of Italy meet electronic beats.

Baritone Christian Gerhaher and Gerold Huber, his long-time partner at the piano, have put together a programme of songs by Johannes Brahms, including the “Rain Song Cycle”. Die gefeierte Sopranistin Lise Davidsen gibt mit diesem Liederabend ihr Salzburg-Debüt und gestaltet gemeinsam mit Tenor Freddie De Tommaso und Pianist James Baillieu einen Abend mit Arien, Liedern und Duetten von Wagner über Verdi bis Puccini und Tosti. The celebrated soprano Lise Davidsen makes her Salzburg debut with this recital, and together with tenor Freddie De Tommaso and pianist James Baillieu, she creates an evening of arias, songs and duets from Wagner and Verdi to Puccini and Tosti.
