Here you can find the festival program of 2023
July 18 to August 31, 2022
The world’s leading cultural festival delights visitors every year with opera, concerts and plays. Numerous stars from the cultural scene make an appearance.
With 174 performances over 45 days and 17 venues, the Salzburg Festival 2022 presents the best of the cultural summer.
Opera
We begin with Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. And take the energy with you to Verdi’s “Aida”, Mozart’s “Magic Flute” or “Bluebeard’s Castle / De temporum fine comoedia”, “Il Trittico” and “Kát’a Kabanová”.

Play
As every year, the focus is on Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s “Jedermann”.
The celebrated ensemble has been on stage 14 times, with Lars Eidinger as Jedermann and Verena Altenberger from Salzburg as Buhlschaft.
Schnitzlers “Reigen” and works by Marieluise Fleißer and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe as well as readings complete the program.

Concert
Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra, the Camerata Salzburg, Christian Thielemann, Elīna Garanča, Riccardo Muti and Daniel Barenboim, to name just a few.
Teodor Currentzis will open the “Orchestra as Guest” series with the Mahler Youth Orchestra, and Lang Lang and the Berlin Philharmonic will also be heard. Other highlights include recitals, chamber and church concerts, the “Ouverture Spiritualuelle” and the Mozart matinees.

Youth program „jung & jede*r“
Young people and young adults are introduced to the festival world with workshops, a children’s opera, drama and, for the first time, “festival sponsorships” with experienced festival visitors. Opera camps for children and young people aged 9 to 17 are particularly popular.
