FestungsBahn (railway up to the fortress) and Mönchsbergaufzug
Between the Hohensalzburg Fortress on the one hand and the Museum der Moderne Salzburg on the other, the Mönchsberg extends in the middle of the city. The FestungsBahn, Austria’s oldest funicular railway, takes its guests to the top in just 54 seconds and promises unique views even during the journey. The ride on the Mönchsberg lift takes 30 seconds and leads spectacularly in the mountain to what is probably the most beautiful viewing platform in town.
Once at the top, you meet nature and culture. So it’s not just worth visiting the fortress and the museum – there are also many idyllic walks and views high above the rooftops of Salzburg
Offer: art and enjoyment above the roofs of Salzburg
The art package is the ideal accompaniment for a visit to the Mönchsberg. You can experience exciting exhibitions of international format in the Museum der Moderne Salzburg and then enjoy a culinary visit to the m32 restaurant with fantastic panoramic views. The Mönchsberg lift will take you there in no time. Art packages are available from the Mönchsberg lift ticket office.
